The material 1.4016 is a ferritic steel grade. It has a higher chromium content than 1.4003 or another 13% chromium steel. Therefore the corrosion resistance is higher. Good Corrosion resistance is evident in media with low aggressiveness and low Chloride ion concentration, such as in a home environment, natural water and solvents. 1.4016 is not resistant to seawater. 1.4016 is resistant to intergranular corrosion in supplied status, but not after welding or processing at elevated temperatures.

The material 1.4016 is mainly used for cutlery, sink units, rail and road vehicles, decoration, container, muffler, coal mining, household electrical appliances, hubcaps, construction, storage and transport facilities, and in the sector of agriculture and food industry, sugar industry, as well as electrical and electronic industries.
